I am a London-based actress, comedian and voice artist. I also have bases in Manchester and Newcastle.
I am currently performing my character comedy show Woman of the Year. This show recently won the BEST COMEDY award at the Adelaide Fringe Weekly Awards. Last year it had a sell-out run at the Edinburgh fringe, receiving 4 and 5 star reviews. I am excited to be creating a new show Get Happy. For more information and tour dates and tickets please click HOME.
I have worked in London, on UK tours and in my native North East. I have recently finished working with BBC sitcom writer James Cary on A Monk's Tale, which was selected as one of the Guardian's top 5 picks of the Fringe, was featured on the BBC national news and was performed 99 times. I have previously worked with TV and theatre writer and director Neil Armstrong, BBC director and BAFTA panel member Marcus White, and classical theatre director Emma Leigh (MadCaps Theatre Co.). I performed in Kate, which won the NSDF Emerging Artist award at the Edinburgh Fringe. I am a regularly called upon cast member of the world's longest running comedy sketch show NewsRevue, for which I also write material. I have also won an award from the Christian Broadcasting Council for Faith in the City, a radio show which I produced and presented whilst at university.
I am a highly adaptable performer with a wide casting range, having played many contrasting parts from romantic leads through to an avatar, and even Uganda (the country!). I am a collaborative and supportive presence, often asked back to work with directors on further projects. I am a character actress with a gift for multi-rolling, and shifting easily between comedy and dramatic roles. I am also a strong singer, with a mezzo-soprano range.
I am originally from Newcastle upon Tyne and moved to Manchester at 18 to begin working with Inside Out Theatre Company performing and teaching drama in prisons and young offender institutions across the UK. I then went on to gain a First Class degree in Theatre & Performance at the University of Leeds. Following my degree I pursued post-graduate training and obtained an MA in Performance (Acting) at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating in 2012.
In addition to acting, I also work as a facilitator and workshop leader. I have recently finished a two-week project in a northern prison working with a group of inmates to create and perform a play. This project required my collaboration, motivation and leadership skills. It was commissioned by the charity Junction 42.
